Figured I'd eat some forum space with an army modeling/painting blog for my Skaven to try and keep them moving from primer black to ratty brown. After harvesting from my bits box like a true pack rat, I realized I already had a lot of options for a Skaven army, mostly thanks to an Daemon Army I converted out of untold boxes of Plague Monks. But between the extra rats, body parts, and left over models to patch into the non-released GW kits, an army was born.

To start the blog I have my 2 Hellpit Abominations. I honestly doubt they will see action together, not just because it's rude, but because....you have no idea how HUGE my Plagueclaw Catapult will be on the table!

Comments and feedback are welcome, along with your vote for favorite Abomination

Looks really nice. A lot better than your DE stuff (which I also liked a lot).

Thanks for the comments guys. Always good motivation to produce more!

I have finished up work on the behemoth that is my Plagueclaw Catapult. It's probably already too big, but I'd like to add a few more burning warpstone bits, but they are tough to come by off the Screaming Bell kit. Yes, it is magnetized, and it actually swings :D

Dude that is epic! I really like what you've done there. Good job. Also, I've been looking at what people have been doing for the hellpit abomination model, and yours is pretty much the best one I've seen. Keep it coming.

Over the Holidays I've been able to finish off my Warp Lightning Cannon and Vermin Lord. I also have some pics of a Squeel model I did for the one day painting contest at the local GW stores. I picked up the model on its release day, and turned it in the following morning for a painting contest. I put about 2 hours of painting into it after assembly, and won myself a Screaming Bell boxed set.

I'm not really happy with how the Warp Lightning Cannon came out, but I was probably aiming too high by trying to play Dragon Age while I painted!

Doomwheel finished! I decided to put some extra time into the banner, but most of the model was pretty basic.

Now that I have 5 rares finished, all I need is another 4000 points of core and special, and I could field them all!

I don't feel like I've been very busy hobbying the last month or so, but I guess I have. Skaven haven't really been keeping my attention, but I did decide to introduce some Lizardmen lying around into the army. I'm planning on chaining up some Skinks to use as slaves, but the big centerpiece will be the 'Lustria Style' Plague Furnace. I don't really like running a Furnace, but in the league you never know when you might need one:

Besides getting that ready for painting, I did up a Skaven basic display base, and finished two other display bases for easy use for my Vampire Counts and Chaos armies:

Then, I listened to too many podcasts, and all of them joking about how a Tyranid Trygon would be the default Jabberslythe model. So, I started thinking about that for my own Chaos/Beastmen stuff, and decided the real problem was the base size. So, I got overexcited, and decided to build a Jabberslythe by wrapping the Trygon around a tall column and giving it some wings. I got carried away....just look at the size comparison to the Screaming Bell.....

So, hopefully I'll be back to painting rats soon, but I think I need to get some Skink slaves converted up for a league game or 2.
